Frequently Asked Questions

Buy Food Locally

What is FarmAppy?

FarmAppy is an online marketplace that allows people to purchase their food directly from local food producers such as farmers and fishers. We believe that food quality is improved when it doesn't have to travel long distances to get to you and that buying directly from locals is more sustainable for the environment and your community.

How does FarmAppy work?

When you log into FarmAppy and go to the marketplace, you will see the local food producers in your area that you can purchase from. Once you've found something you like and have placed an order, the relevant food producer will be notified of your order. When the order has been accepted and depending on the fulfillment method you selected, your products will be delivered to you or you can go and collect your products fresh from the farm.

Why can’t I see any producers in my marketplace?

If you can’t see any producers in your marketplace, it is because there are no producers with products currently available for your location. This could be because your local producer’s products are out of season or because your local producers have not signed up to FarmAppy yet. The marketplace is constantly expanding with new products being added regularly, so if you can’t see any local producers at the moment, it would be worth checking back at a later date. Alternatively, if you would like to express your desire to see more producers in your area on FarmAppy, please feel free to get in touch via our contact page and we can look into prioritising finding more producers in your area.

Why wasn’t my order accepted?

There can be a few reasons why your order wasn’t accepted such as the producer having insufficient stock or the producer not having the delivery capacity to fulfil your order. If your order has not been accepted, it is important to check the feedback from the producer as they may provide further details and it may be possible to place your order again with different parameters (e.g. different order quantities).

What can I do if I have an issue with my delivery?

If there is an issue with your delivery, please get in touch with us via our contact page. It is important that this is done within 3 days of the order being completed to ensure an adequate resolution.

If you receive an order from a buyer, it is entirely up to you whether or not you accept it. Unless there is a good reason not to deliver the product, it would be recommended that the order be accepted to improve the chances of the buyer purchasing from you again in the future.

What should I do if I run out of stock?

If you have no more of a particular item to sell you have 2 options. If it is a temporary reduction in stock and you plan to have more shortly, it is recommended that you suspend that item from your marketstall.
